Laying siege to women, children holds no military value

TEHRAN, Sep. 04 (MNA) –Bahram Ghasemi of Iran’s Foreign Ministry praised the gallant approach of Hezbollah in letting ISIL families escape, and condemned US siege to the buses of the ISIL women and children.

“The US measure in laying siege to a number of women and children is far from logic, considering the US background of providing support to ISIL,” asserted Bahram Ghasemi, the Spokesman of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, “we hold that this is an effort to undermine the victories of Lebanese government and résistance.”

The Iranian diplomat welcomed and supported the decision made by Hezbolah in rescuing civilians, and innocent women and children saying that, “the humanitarian measure taken by Lebanon’s government and Hezbollah converted their military victory to a much bigger triumph.”

Mr. Ghasemi reassured that laying air blockade over a group of women and children trapped in civilian busses and the death of some pregnant women in the last two days are anti-humanitarian and if continued, may lead to a humanitarian catastrophe which could increase violence in the region.

“Daesh [ISIL] is nearing its end and disintegration with the power of resistance in the governments of Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, and along with the armies and resistance force of these countries and the support provided by Iran and Russia,” underlined the Iranian diplomat, “currently this campaign to completely eradicate terrorism in Syria and Iraq is underway, so putting a group of women and children in blockade in the middle of desert is of no military value.”

He emphasized that not only the measure is of no value and no negative effect on ISIL military power but it also increases and spreads terrorism in the region, “War against armed fighters of the ISIL is totally different from murdering civilians and innocent people.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as the country at the frontier of war on terror, especially the ISIL, urges the United Nations to intervene in this case and prevent the innocent being murdered,” Ghasemi called the international community.
